Should you be in a relationship with someone you can't see yourself marrying?

If you love them and love spending time with them but you know you won't end up marrying them? they're boyfriend material ideal for when you're young but not ideal for when you're older and more responsible. e.g. if they have no education and very low income so you know they wouldn't be able to support you or a family? Is it selfish to stay?
